On Saturday May 10, 2008, blood was spilled in Halba.
After 12 members of the SSNP agreed to surrender their headquarters to the Lebanese Army and were assured safe passage, armed militiamen of the Future Movement attacked the unarmed and mostly wounded SSNP members, tortured them, broke their bones, burned their arms and legs, and tore off their clothes to identify their religions (from their genitals). Most of them were then murdered in cold blood and their bodies maimed and mutilated. The lucky ones were executed at point blank. Others had their heads smashed by concrete blocks and were beaten to death. Even the wounded who were taken to the hospitals were pursued, and one was suffocated to death after a fire extinguisher was opened in his mouth. All this was under the consenting supervision of some doctors and nurses and some Lebanese Security Forces.
This web site tells their stories and stands witness to the horrible massacre that occurred that day in Halba, Lebanon.
